Glimpses of my Master’ is an account of the life and work of the enlightened Indian mystic, Osho, written from the point of view of a close disciple. Veena Schlegel was one of the first western people to meet Osho, formerly Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh, in Bombay, India, in1971. Working for him and his community in a number of ways – as a meditation centre leader, as an editor of his books, as one of his PR people in Rajneeshpuram in the USA and as one of a team of seamstresses responsible for his clothes and household effects – presented Veena with an opportunity to not only work on herself, but to observe him working with the hundreds of thousands of people coming from all over the world to listen to his words, do his meditations and live in his communes in India, the USA and around the world. Her book is about her very personal, often humorous, insights into this inspirational and extraordinary man and his attempts to help people become more aware and conscious and thus lead happier, more contented lives based on an understanding of their own personal truths. ‘Glimpses of my Master’ is the second of a trilogy of books in which Veena writes both about her journeys around the world and her journeys inwards on the spiritual path.
About the Author
After completing her university studies in 1966 in South Africa, where she was born and brought up, Veena Schlegel left home to see the world. In 1971 she travelled overland on an epic journey through unknown lands to India where she met her spiritual master, the enlightened mystic, Osho, in Mumbai − and her life changed forever. This was a new and different journey. Until Osho died in 1991, she lived and worked in his various communes in India and around the world. After his death she travelled further east on her spiritual quest, first to Japan where she taught English and explored Zen, and more recently to China which she visits often to meditate on the sacred Song Mountain in Henan Province. She has discovered much of the historical and spiritual (particularly Zen) heritage of this area as well as learning in detail about local traditional customs and contemporary Chinese life. She has written about Osho and his life and work for many publications in paper or online and is now working on a trilogy of books detailing her travels on the path. The first book, 'A Vanished Road’ is an account of her overland journey to India. The second book, 'Glimpses of my Master' is an account of her life as a disciple of Osho. Written by a close disciple of the controversial and flamboyant Indian mystic Osho Rajneesh, this is a fascinating account of a life devoted to the pursuit of higher consciousness under the intense tutelage of an extraordinary spiritual teacher. Filled with interesting and intimate details of day to day ashram life, Veena Schlegel's story makes particularly compelling reading; devoid of the sensationalism and media-hype frequently associated with Osho and the thousands of seekers he attracted from all over the world during the 70'3 and 80's, this book will appeal to anyone with an interest in spiritual search and higher consciousness with its detailed description of the alchemical and transformative process which occurred living in close proximity to this 20th century enlightened master and guru.

Not that many books are written about the controversial mystic Osho (aka Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh) and not surprisingly the most popular are the ones filled with slanderous rumours, misunderstandings and downright lies.
Here we get something completely different, a moving, personal story by an intimate discipel who both worked as an editor of Osho's book and later as chief designer of his often outrageously beautiful robes (and hats). Throwing light on the mysterious ways of an enlightened Master and his endless compassion for who ever comes close to him. Filled with funny episodes, profound transformations and glimpses of the beyond, although Veena mostly stays away from the esoteric.
The book is extremely well-written and entertaining and definitely one of the best ever portraits of Osho. Parts of it has previously been published in her long out-of-print books like "A Seam For The Master". Unfortunately without the beautiful pictures which she claims she can't reproduce due to copyright issues.
That she has a critical outlook on the way Osho's legacy has been handled is no secret, but she is the first to admit that it's just her personal view. And some of her points are definitely highly relevant.
A must for anyone interested in the complex play between Master and disciple, or seriously into spirituality and transformation and ofc for anyone interested in Osho.

Osho’s taylor tells her story!
A must read for everyone who would like a glimpse of how it was to live around the spiritual master Osho. I recommend this book highly, because of it’s refreshing authenticity. The author has a knack for leaving her ego out of the pages and describes her experience around Osho in a playful, humorous and loving way! Do not miss this book! It is priceless!
