A Spiritual Rebel’s Manifesto

Merely a few weeks after releasing his 44th book, Arjuna (John Hogue) has published the 45th about humanity’s future outlook and Osho’s vision. For the first time in all his published books, he also speaks about himself and his inner journey, writes Bhagawati.

It begins with a bleak future set out by Osho back in 1983, full of strive, famines and wars, as well as natural disasters, disease and nuclear incidents. In a nutshell, an apocalypse. At first one is tempted to think, ‘is this it?’

Not so.

Anant Jesse’s ‘Mantrica’ (review + tracks)

As the name implies, Mantrica is about Sanskrit mantras: ancient sacred syllables and verses charged with spiritual power, in some cases core messages from famous Sutras, in others short prayers or recitals to deities. What the name does not give away is the radically hip and modern environment of tightly percolating bass grooves that Jesse transplants them into, nor his polytonal, welcome-to-dissonances vocal presentation that points at the famous Bulgarian Women’s Choir.

Beyond Alt-Right and Alt-Left

Arjuna (aka John Hogue) just released his 44th book expressing his vision for a community of Americans to emerge after a grassroot revolution, writes Bhagawati.

This book unexpectedly came into being because of all the positive feedback Arjuna got for his essay on the recent racially-charged riots in Charlottesville, USA.

Celebration of Light by Deuter

New CD by Chaitanya Hari for the festive season

Sitting in the sweltering tropics at this time of the year, snow and Christmassy images are far removed from my reality. Nevertheless, when I heard about Chaitanya Hari’s CD ‘Celebration of Light’, just recently released as “an offering for the holiday season”, I was curious and started listening.

Crystal Chakra Healing

Punya and Daya review the latest release by New Earth Records.

On the CD cover we read the names of Waduda, Prasanna & the Mystery. Waduda is the co-founder of New Earth Records who did the research, Prasanna Bishop is the musician and producer of the album, and ‘the Mystery’ must mean the healing energies of the crystals from the Casa of Don Ignacio de Loyola in Brazil, which were blessed by John of God, the healer Waduda and Bhikkhu visited a few years ago.

Gypsy Heart

Vandana’s review of Ashik’s new CD.

Delightful music in the gypsy genre from Ashik, some tracks his own compositions, others traditional tunes from the cafés and fairgrounds of Eastern Europe, woven in with Andean flutes and Belfast fiddles. Ashik’s masterly violin is underscored throughout by a vigorous double base and a generous serve of gypsy cheek and swagger.
