In Wonder with Osho

“Arun’s long-awaited autobiography is lightning striking the heart with joyous laughter, deepest tears, and an original portrait of Osho as never before seen,” says Prem Geet in her review.

Into Being by Praful

Chinmaya Dunster reviews Praful’s latest album. For twenty years Praful has made some of the most interesting explorations of Planet Music of any artist I can think of. From smooth jazz and electronic chillout to Indian mantras and Hindustani classical; from Brazilian songs to New Age tantric healing, there is hardly a continent he hasn’t visited musically.

Let Your Heart Sing

Milarepa reviews Narayani’s most recent collection of songs

I was introduced to Narayani by Sudhananda sometime in the late 80’s when I was coordinating the music department in Osho’s Commune in Pune, India. Sudhananda had been accompanying her on guitar for one of the many variety shows that happened often in Buddha Hall. From that time on, Narayani became an integral part of the sannyas music scene, giving voice to the Commune’s collective heart.

Meditation Ragas

Sona’s review of Chinmaya’s latest CD.

Chinmaya, Master-Mediator between musical styles of different cultures, attracts and invites the talent of a variety of people to create something beyond convention and therefore his music is always alive and uplifting. (Just listen to his various CDs with the Celtic Raga Band, which convinced Paul McCartney to invite the band to his wedding). Chinmaya just came out with a new CD that moves again to the more quiet and even side of musical expression.

Music for Massage

Sona reviews Malimba’s most recent compilation.

Malimba Records, the label founded by Shastro, has released this new album and that is what it really is: with these tunes you can time your 1-hour massage in case you are using music as a background.

A thick carpeted hotel lobby or any other space for leisure or pleasure might also resonate well with it.

The various composing Malimba artists are ‘maintaining’ the ‘sustained energy level’ they are promising; no need to fear sudden changes.

The mountain as metaphor

Christian is an impressive multi-(stringed) instrumentalist. His list on this CD includes cello; Indian dilruba (bowed sitar), swaramandala (autoharp), sitara (small sitar) and sarangi; Swedish nyckelharpa (key fiddle), medieval psaltery (bowed small harp), lapsteel guitar, electric guitar, and fretless bass, all of which he plays with integrity and devotion.

On the Edge: Living with an Enlightened Master

A review by Roshani of ‘On the Edge’ by Yoga Punya. The book has been re-published in India and will be launched on 27th July on the occasion of the Guru Purnima Celebrations at Oshodham in Delhi.

As Veena Schlegel points out in the Foreword, this is a “very special, very precious book.” In it, Punya reveals not only her life as an ordinary sannyasin, but the daily life which swirled around the various phases of the work of Osho, the controversial mystic who is her Master.
