Anita Moorjani is the author of Dying to be Me: My Journey from Cancer, to Near Death, to True Healing. I’d read that one a couple of years ago and found it really great. The author, raised in a Hindu family in Hong Kong, describes dying from lymphoma and coming back; and where she went when she died (which was just as wonderful as we might wish!)

In the new book she carries on with her theme, which is basically, loving yourself above all else! She has become an international speaker, so she describes meetings with various people and how their issues could be illuminated with the understandings she gained while in the near-death state.

She does this by listing myths the Collective believes and then debunks them – for example, “We pay for our sins at death,” or “Spiritual people don’t have egos,” or “Real love means anything goes.” There is enough narrative and day-to-day living in it that it’s easy to grasp the abstracts she puts forward.

What I really like about this author is her complete non-pretentiousness. She is humble, friendly, warm, and ordinary in her presentation; not guru-like at all; and yet her way of speaking is so clear and plain that it is extremely easy to take it in and get what she is talking about.

In many instances I felt she was saying exactly what Osho said – but in her very own words and from her own truth.

I found it a lovely book to dip in and out of while having tea or breakfast, letting it last for weeks. Uplifting and calming, and really joyful.
