Osho shows the way to self realization without believing in any God. He argues that the mind is increasingly our barrier to happiness and truth and that Zen teaches you how to detach yourself from it. By doing so, you have the chance to truly experience yourself and to connect with your own being. This is the heart of Zen thought and Osho calls it the religion of the future, a vision that goes beyond organized religion to an individual 'religiousness'. Lucid and profound and told with great simplicity, Zen: Dang Dang Doko Dang is an utterly inspiring book from one of our great spiritual masters. It will transform the way you live and perceive the world.

Details
Osho says there are two distinct spiritual paths. One to show the way to peace and happiness by melting the mind through meditation, like Buddhism. The other shows the path to achieve the same by melting the heart through pure devotion, like Hinduism and Christianity. He says that neither path is superior or inferior, they are just different.

Excerpt from: Dang Dang Doko Dang
This book focuses on the Zen path of freeing the mind through dhyana or meditation. While the word meditation has its root in a Greek word that means 'to think', actual meditation, says Osho, lies in developing the ability to stop thinking, to clear the mind of all thoughts. He points out that the mind is the barrier to true happiness, with its conflicting thoughts and emotions. So, to clear the mind and keep it quiet is the key to achieve bliss. Each chapter in the book contains an anecdote, question or a small story that emphasizes an important point or teaches a lesson. The phrase Dang Dang Doko Dang is symbolic of the sound of the drum that a Zen master beats in order to get the attention of the students before teaching an important lesson. Zen: Dang Dang Doko Dang teaches many meditation techniques and answers a lot of questions about Zen meditation. As Osho puts it, Zen is concerned with dissolving philosophical problems, not answering or solving them.
